Notice alert – Stoke Lock, Hazelford Lock, Barton Island – until further notice

Notice Alert

Location: Stoke Lock, Hazelford Lock, Barton Island

Monday 1 June 2020 until further notice

Type: Advice
Reason: Information

Original message:

Please proceed with care when travelling along the Trent navigation.

We have been made aware that boats may have difficulty navigating below Stoke Lock and Hazelford Lock.  We have also had reports of similar issues at Barton Island.  This is the result of sediments having been moved around by the winter floods.

Investigations will be being carried out to ensure boats can navigate safely.

From  23rd May our canals and rivers are open for navigation. Our towpaths are also open for exercise or journeys to undertake essential work, but please try to avoid any stretches with boats moored against the towpath. Strictly observe social distancing at all times, following the latest advice from the government. Before you go by boat, bike or boot, remember to check your route.

Please follow the government advice – stay alert, control the virus, save lives.
