Burton Waters Kayaking Club

Hello fellow paddlers and welcome to the Kayak part of BWBC.
This is an informal group of like minded paddlers with the aim to enable people to get together for a paddle.
The Kayak group has now affiliated with BWBC opening up more events, outings with the kayaks, with boats and social meet ups.
All the kayak related information will be updated on this page, added on to the events page and general posts on the Home tab – keep a look out for more information.
If anyone has anything they would like to add on here please pass directly on to Gaynor or to Sharon at the boat club by email to burtonwatersboatclub.website@gmail.com
All kayakers/paddlers are welcome to join BWBC which would enable you to have all the benefits of being part of the boat club, this would cost only £15 per year – details on the ‘Join The Club’ tab on this website.

WHAT’S ON!

FOSSDYKE LITTER PICK
As my kayak group are already aware we are planning to have a litter pick along the FossDyke on Sunday April 21st (weather permitting!).
We are going to be joined by some boats so between us we should be able to pick up large amounts of litter in difficult to reach places with the boats taking the heavy loads, if there are any!
We are planning to paddle/boat between Saxilby and the Pyewipe with a planned pit stop at each end! There may also be some boaters who want to have a go at kayaking ! I have already had eight kayaking offers of help so looks like it will be a fun day! Exact times will be arranged shortly.

The kayakers and boat club are supporting the CRT #plasticschallenge.
If everyone picked up one piece of plastic every time they were on the water ways or walking along side, the CRT state that the waterways would be free of plastic within 12 months. Let’s support this cause and look after our waters.

BURTON WATERS LOCK – GATE CLOSURE

The lock at BW is going to be closed from 26th February to 15th March to enable the fitting of the second lock gates. If anyone wants to get onto the Fossdyke during this time. The kayak club does have permission from Matt, landlord at Woodcocks, to launch from the pub mooring.
He just asks that we buy a meal or drink from Woodies.
