Update on 22/05/2020:

Following the announcement from the Prime Minister regarding the UK’s response to the coronavirus crisis, we are advising can move your boat a short distance.  We advise that your trip minimises the use of manned locks and structures.

Some of our bridges and locks are operated by staff who have been off work on furlough, until they have returned to work some of these staffed structures will be closed.

This means that passage through Cromwell lock will continue to be limited and will only be available on a booked basis.

Please contact us on 0303 040 4040 or by emailing enquiries.eastmidlands@canalrivertrust.org.uk to arrange passage for essential travel or short distance journeys.

Please note that we require one working days’ notice to arrange passage through the lock, exact time of passage will depend on tide times. We are keeping our response to this crisis under constant review and may change our position according to latest government advice.
