Novice Boaters’ Weekend – Worth attending?

The Club ran a Novice Boaters’ Weekend on the 30th June & 1st July, taking part were Karoline & Robin Lassiter on Neetie Noo and Sharon, Alan & Kieran Taylor on Jani, read what they thought about the weekend below.

“On a very warm and sunny Saturday morning we met at The Woodcocks for a short briefing on what to expect over the course of the weekend.

Day 1 covered boat handling skills in the marina and mooring practice – which happened to be outside the Pyewipe! The highlight was day 2 when we navigated for the first time through Torksey Lock and out onto The Trent, mooring up for a short while at Dunham Rack.

We’d like to thank Keith & Ian, our experienced skippers, for their guidance, patience & humour. For the whole weekend we were completely responsible for our own boats but having an experienced skipper onboard was a real confidence boost.

For new or nervous boaters, this is the ideal course to get you started. Anyone who didn’t make it missed a real treat so look out for further dates.

Happy Sailing

Karoline, Robin, Sharon, Alan & Kieran”
