The Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) is an inland waterways body managed jointly by the Canal & River Trust (CRT) and the Environment Agency however it covers all navigation authorities in the UK with few exceptions. The requirement to have your boat examined on a four yearly basis is mandatory in order to receive, in our instance, our annual CRT licence.
The examination requires completion of over 150 checks across the various systems that may exist on your boat from Gas (LPG), electricity, fuel, ventilation, outboards etc. This presentation will provide you with details on how to pass first time, highlighting the common faults discovered on many vessels which will allow you to pass first time and hence save you money.
