Our recent Summer Event went down very well with a good attendance on the day (even though the weather wasn’t the best!).
The boat trips went down exceptionally well under the organisation of John & Julie Varley, and were full and well attended throughout the day with donations going to the RNLI Skegness branch and ‘Fund Britains Waterways’ – many thanks to our members Mike & Lindsey and Duncan & Jo for running trips through Burton Waters and onto the Fosdyke continually throughout the day
Our kayakers provided a display of their boats on the Landings and were on hand to talk about their group and activities and proved popular with visitors – thanks to Gaynor and her group for taking the time to spend the day with us.
A big thank you to our local businesses that contributed to our raffle – special mentions for Harbour Lights, Vino Marina and Laziza – your help was very much appreciated. Thanks also to our members that kindly provided raffle prizes and even items to sell for donations on the stand on the day. A big thank you goes to Barry & Ann, Patsy, Angela, John & Sharon and Maz for setting up the stand and manning the Boat Club stall and doing a sterling job raising donations from boat club trips and the raffle.
Food was popular on the day, with fresh sweet and savoury crepes & drinks filling us all up throughout the day, followed by ice cream from the van still being popular despite the drizzle.
The RNLI Skegness branch had a stand perfectly situated between the two food offers and were kept busy throughout the day giving out advice/free information/items and checking lifejackets.
The whole day was brought together with music from Alba & Ben keeping us all entertained throughout the day.
Burton Waters Marina also held boat displays throughout the day on the water and David Lloyds held a ticketed BBQ and music evening to complete a successful day.
The end result of all the hard work by everyone is a great £200 raised for RNLI Skegness ( to commemorate the 200 year anniversary of the RNLI) and a £50 donation to ‘Fund Britains Waterways’ – well done to everyone for the organisation of a great day.
Thanks to all those who supported us!
