At the recent Association of Waterways Cruising Clubs meeting, we were informed that the Boat Safety Scheme have not been checking that the examiners they authorise to issue certificates are insured, and a number of boaters had had issues with uninsured examiners. You should always ask your examiner for evidence that they have appropriate insurance so you have redress should a safety issue arise that should have been identified in the examination.
