Notice Alert

River Trent
Location: Trent Bridge
Starts At: Bridge 12, Trent Bridge
Ends At: Bridge 12, Trent Bridge

Monday 2 March 2020 until Monday 15 June 2020 23:59

Type: Navigation Restriction
Reason: 3rd Party Works

Update on 01/06/2020:

Nottingham City Council are carrying out a major refurbishment and repainting of the Grade 2 Listed Trent Bridge in Nottingham.  This is being undertaken in a phased approach to minimise the disruption for river users.

During this initial phase the centre-span will be closed to all boating traffic.  Substantial scaffolding will be erected around and under the central span of the bridge.  This restricts the use of the navigation the side-spans only, and thus only allows for “leisure craft” to access the river upstream of Trent Bridge.

Note that during this initial phase the visitor moorings below Trent Bridge/Meadow Lane Lock on the River Trent are suspended to allow for emergency access/mooring of the large trip boats that will be required to turn below Trent Bridge.

Coronavirus restrictions

Any stoppages on our network relating to coronavirus restrictions will be listed on our notices and stoppages webpages. However, if you'd like more general information about how we're reacting to the pandemic and how we're supporting those who rely on our network, you can read the latest information here.

Update on 25/02/2020:

Due to a change in methodology, the scaffolding will now be erected by floating it into position, using pontoons, from Victoria Embankment (Northern/City bank).

Therefore, during the initial week of works (2nd March – 8th March) we ask that all craft utilise the southern, county span to navigate through Trent Bridge.

Please note that this change has been brought about due to the council not allowing the carriageway of Trent bridge to be restricted (ie: lanes closed) while there are ongoing road/lane closures at Clifton Bridge on the A52.

Please slow on approach to the Bridge and utilise the side spans for accessing the river above Trent Bridge.

Please also be aware that many unpowered craft use this stretch of waterway and those users may not be expecting powered craft to utilise the side spans.
